 Air Cadets Remember

Air cadets from 1070 (Diss) Squadron did the town proud by attending 3 local Remembrance Parades as well as sending a contingent of cadets for the 11am Armistice Day ceremony.

Cadets attended 2 ceremonies in the morning at Roydonl and Stradbroke churches, and over 30 cadets paraded through Diss town centre in the afternoon, proudly carrying the Air Cadet standard. With the Salvation Army Band leading the parade and Cdt Cpl Greg Fisher carrying the Squadron Banner, Cadets and Staff marched to the War Memorial outside St Mary’s church to lay the wreaths and to attend the service.   Cdt Alice Cater was then chosen by the Royal British Legion to lay all the wreaths alongside the memorial.

On the Friday Adult Sgt Stephanie Williams, along with 8 cadets, marched into Diss town centre to pay their respects with the town during the 2 minutes silence.  This was the third year that the air cadets have been present and they remain the only uniformed prescence at this solemn occasion.

Mr Richard Bowgett, Chairman of the Royal British Legion, commented on what a credit to the town the cadets were and how good it was to see young people coming to and taking part in these events every year.
