Diss Air Cadets make National Finals!

Air cadets from 1070 (Diss) Squadron had a weekend to remember when they represented Central and Eastern Region in the Corps National Band Competition for the first time.   The 1070 Band Ensemble should have played in the finals last year but the bad weather resulted in their cancellation so the cadets were doubly excited to finally make the event, which was held at RAF Halton this year.  Sgt Harley Crisp (16) said “Representing the Region in the National Band Championships was a real honour and although we didn’t win, it was such a great experience. It was a really close competition and the standards were very high.”

The Band Ensemble consisted of Sgt Harley Crisp on electric violin; Cpl Mason Crisp on Bass; Cpl Greg Fisher on Cornet; Cdt James Gaffney on guitar; and Cdt Patrick McNicol, who has only been with the Corps for 5 months, on drums.

Diss Air Cadets parades every Tuesday and Thursday, at the Drill Hall, Sunnyside, Diss from 7pm till 9.30pm and welcomes all young people aged between 13 and 18 years. The Squadron is currently recruiting.
