Regional Sporting Success for Diss Air Cadets
Two air cadets from 1070 (Diss) Sqn have been selected to represent Central and Eastern Region in the Senior Rugby 7’s and Junior Girls Hockey teams, after recently representing Norfolk and Suffolk Wing.
Sgt Lawrence Page (16), a pupil at Hartismere High School was selected for the Senior Boys Rugby 7’s after several gruelling matches representing Norfolk and Suffolk. Lawrence said “there were some really great players on the pitch so I am really pleased to have been picked. I previously played for Diss rugby club as a junior so their training as really payed off”.
Cadet Evie Huddleston (14), who so far has only
played hockey at school said, "It was amazing to represent Norfolk and Suffolk but to be chosen to play for the whole region is fantastic!”. Evie, a pupil at Diss High School, already represented Norfolk and Suffolk at the 400m sprint early this year and she will now receive a ‘Regional Blue’ award to add to her already growing collection of sporting awards.
Flight Lieutenant Emma Dixon, Commanding Officer of 1070(Diss) Sqn said “this is yet another a fantastic achievement for the squadron. We have some really talented young people in Diss and its great that the Air Cadets is helping them reach their potential!”.
To get involved as an adult instructor and help shape the future of tomorrow’s leaders is easy. Anyone who has a few spare hours a week is welcome in the Air Cadets. Diss Air Cadets parade every Tuesday and Thursday, at the Drill Hall, Sunnyside, Diss from 7pm till 9.30pm and welcomes all young people aged between 13 and 18 years. Click here for more details.
